Recent Research Highlights: - in a series of recent papers, I have considered models where QCD-like theories could be extensively studied in String theory. The models provide a representation of N=1 Super Yang-Mills with additional flavors in various representations. They all have important features like confinement and spontaneous symmetry breaking. - another aspect studied in some of these papers are non-Kahler compactification manifolds for whom we get a concrete construction. They are extremely useful in view of the recent developments involving the Landscape of String vacua. - my most recent work involved a detailed study of the proton decay terms appearing in string theory compactification. Our results provide a complete picture of why String theory can guarantee the absence of the terms which would imply a rapid proton decay but allow the presence of the Yukawa couplings.
