Nuclear astrophysics

with Professor James Lattimer

Opportunities exist to work on experimental and theoretical projects in nuclear astrophysics. Examples of experimentally-focused work are determining parallaxes of nearby neutron stars and simulating atmospheres of neutron stars. Examples of theoretically-focused work are finding new analytic solutions of Einstein's equations applicable to neutron stars, estimating the maximum mass of neutron stars, exploration of the structure of neutron stars. In either case, a proclivity toward math is essential.
