Experimental or theoretical atomic/optical physics

with Professor Harold Metcalf

Prof. Metcalf's current research deals primarily with the interaction of light and atoms. He works with undergraduates both through the Laser Teaching Center and directly, within his research group.  For example, he has collaborated with Jose Mawyin (BS in physics, June 2003) to develop a computer simulation of population transfer in two- and three-level atoms.

For further information, contact Prof. Metcalf by phone or email, or come to one of the regular meetings of his research group (Fridays at 1 PM, S-141 Physics).
