My research interest lies in finding out how gauge field theories, which act as good models to study physics and successfully describes many phenomena, are related to the string theory, which is believed to be a good approach to understand quantum gravity. Currently I am interested in understanding how N=2 supersymmetric field theories are realized in the context of the string/M-theory, focusing on describing non-perturbative aspects of the field theory in the language of the string/M-theory. Gauge/gravity duality is another fascinating topic in this area. I am interested in the gravity-side description of N=2 supersymmetric field theories via the duality, and also I am studying recent development in the duality between four-dimensional gravity theories and three-dimensional field theories. I am also interested in how to describe geometric ideas of field theories and string theories in the language of mathematics. The Seiberg-Witten theory describes N=2 supersymmetric field theories in terms of Riemann surfaces, and there are a lot of exciting interactions between physics and geometry in that direction. Another interesting topic is to understand the quantization from the viewpoint of geometry. The prescribtion of quantization has been escaping from our grasp of understanding since its birth, but there have been many semi-successful attempts to understand it via geometric point of view.
