Dr. Rebhan will review the fundamentals of thermal gauge field theories, and introduce a number of modern developments.
All lectures will be held in the YITP Common Room 6-125, with (tentative) titles, times, and dates given below.
| Lecture 1, Sept. 20, 9:50am | Quantum statistical mechanics and complex time paths |
| Lecture 2, Sept. 22, 2:30pm | Imaginary-time formalism |
| Lecture 3, Sept. 28, 2:30pm | Real-time formalisms |
| Lecture 4, Sept. 29, 2:30pm | Extension to gauge theories and hard thermal loops |
| Lecture 5, Oct. 6, 2:30pm | Resummations in dimensional reduction |
| Lecture 6, Oct. 7, 2:30pm | Nonstatic hard-thermal-loop resummation (next-to-leading order dynamical screening and damping, asymptotic thermal masses, non-Fermi-liquid behavior in ultradegenerate QED and QCD) |
