YITP affiliates honored! Sally Dawson and Simone Giombi received important awards

YITP Adjunct Professor Sally Dawson has been awarded the 2017 Sakurai Prize for Elementary Particle Theory and YITP alumnus Simone Giombi (Ph.D. 2007) has received a 2017 New Horizons in Physics Prize. Dr. Dawson was recognized "for instrumental contributions to the theory of the properties, reactions and signatures of the Higgs boson", and shares the prize with John F. Gunion, Howard E. Haber and Gordon L. Kane. She is a long-time associate of the Institute, and has helped mentor numerous students over the years, including two winners of the President's Award for Doctoral research, Leandro Almeida (2010) and Mao Zeng (2016).

YITP alumnus Simone Giombi (Ph.D. 2007) has received a 2017 New Horizons in Physics Prize awarded to recognize early career achievements. Simone is currently on the faculty at Princeton University, where he works on strings, quantum fields and gauge/gravity dualities.
