    Title: Numerical Investigations into Calabi-Yau Compactifications
    
    Abstract: Using balanced metrics and gauge connections as an
    approximation scheme promises a numerical method to perform the
    Kaluza-Klein reduction. After calculating the metric, we compute the
    spectrum of the scalar Laplace operator on Calabi-Yau threefolds. For
    example, this gives new numerical evidence for the SYZ conjecture.
    Next, I will review the balanced approach towards Hermitian
    Yang-Mills connections. As an application, we can numerically
    determine the region of stability of a vector bundle in the Kahler
    moduli space.
