The John Simon Guggenheim Foundation has conducted its annual Fellowship competitions since 1925, "intended for men and women who have already demonstrated exceptional capacity for productive scholarship or exceptional creative ability in the arts."  The Fellowships are among the most prestigious "mid career" awards in all fields of research and the arts. YITP Professor Christopher Herzog, in collaboration with the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics and the Theatre Arts Department, organized the 2012-13 SBU Science Playwriting Competition.
